Patience is a virtue when you are challenging for the No 1 jersey and Vito was rewarded for his with a lengthy run in the first team last season.
An outstanding display at Fulham saw the Italian's stock rise rapidly: he saved Arsenal single-handedly at times and produced one incredible double-stop in the first half.
Vito lost his place when Manuel Almunia recovered from injury but he emerged from his eight-game stint a more confident, commanding presence between the posts.
Vito's goalkeeping education has already taken in a loan spell at Barnsley as well as second-string appearances for Arsenal. Now he wants to swap the Reserve League for the Premier League on a permanent basis.
