Marouane Chamakh (Arabic: مروان الشماخ, born on 10 January 1984) is
a Moroccan footballer who plays for Bordeaux as a striker. Although born and raised in France, he chose to play international football for Morocco due to his
Moroccan parentage.
Club career
Since 2002, Chamakh has been playing for FC Bordeaux. His 13 goals in the French League in 2008-09 helped them win the title, ending Lyon's seven year domination. Chamakh has netted 15 times for his current club this season, including five goals in the Champions League. His current contract is due to expire in the summer of 2010, meaning he will be able to move clubs under the Bosman ruling. It is widely believed that Chamakh will be signing for Arsenal F.C once his contract expires.
