Johan made serene progress through the ranks at Arsenal before a serious knee injury stopped him in his tracks in 2009.
The Swiss defender spent virtually the whole of last season on the sidelines as a result but now he intends to make up for lost time and nail down a first-team place.
Johan is an accomplished centre back. He is assured with the ball at his feet, relishes a battle and has the pace and aerial ability to excel at the heart of defence.
He has taken a traditional path to the first-team, completing a loan spell at Birmingham in 2008 before making his mark in the Premier League. Now
Johan wants to kick on.
