England international understands the desires of players who wish to move to win things but hopes the club can keep hold of current talent and spend on more during the summer

Theo Walcott will welcome new additions at Arsenal but hopes the club can hang on to key talents such as Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.

The pair have been at the centre of recent transfer rumours which have hinted at an exodus at the Emirates as a result of the Gunners' failure to pick up any silverware since 2005.

Captain Fabregas has been at the heart of a long-term transfer rumour linking him with a return to his boyhood club Barcelona, whilst French star Nasri has been strongly linked with a move to bitter rivals Manchester United.

Walcott told The Sun: "I can understand why some players might be frustrated and thinking of leaving.

"They want to win things and we haven't done that for six years.

"I don't know what is going to happen with Cesc - he wants to win things and it's difficult for him.

"But he is our captain and he means so much to the team and to our fans.

"He has won a World Cup and a European Championship. Having him in the dressing room is great for the younger generation and he'll help attract players to the club.

"It's the same with Samir Nasri - he's one of our best players and we want to keep hold of him.

"We'll all be disappointed if he goes but it's his decision."

Despite the want-away rumours, 22-year-old Walcott is happy to hear of potential spending by his manager and eager to see what new talent will grace the Emirates next year.

"The manager has said he is going to spend this summer," said the winger.

"I'm intrigued to see who we're going to get. - we have a small squad and it would be nice to see a few additions."
