Well fellow gooners, I am interested to find out who you believe should be sold, let go, or kept and given another contract. For instance I believe a few of the new signings have not been a huge hit, Gervinho sell or give a second chance, Arshavin my opinion on him is quite well documented. I believe if Arsenal get rid of the dead wood and fringe players we could purchase some quality players who will bring strength in depth to the squad. I have made a start below, feel free to add comments or disagree or even add your own slant on this.
Hope you have an opinion on this, I honestly think we can afford a massive clearout but we do need some WORLD CLASS players to come in to challenge for honours next season.
useful post! thanks!
about carlos Vela, he is playing as a star. we should give him a chance.
but, is arshavin going to sell?
Thanks for your response, my view on Vella is the same, Arsenal's Mexican striker, has indicated a willingness to stay at Real Sociedad. So he may not return unfortunately. Arshavin in my opinion is better off away from Arsenal his attitude and form before this seasn was ok, but something has gone astray I feel and he wanted away...I will not speculate as to why, but midocre performances are not going to win trophies . So if we cant sell him, just cancel his contract and let him go on a free I say, only players that are committed to the Arsenal cause should have the privilage of pulling on an Arsenal shirt.
I did find this article online and thought it made interesting reading.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is in no rush to announce his plans for the loanees and insists that he will carefully evaluate all their futures at the end of the season.
Denilson, Nicklas Bendtner, Ryo Miyachi and Carlos Vela were all sent out on loan and have fared well in their respective clubs this season.
Miyachi has starred for Bolton and Bendtner has scored crucial goals for Sunderland during his loan stint. The Black Cats strongly wish to tie down Bendtner on a permanent basis but the Dane has remained non-commital thus far. Vela, Arsenal's Mexican striker, has indicated a willingness to stay at Real Sociedad but the rest of the players are said to be eager to return to the Emirates and play a part in the first team in the coming season
But Wenger will have a hard time accomodating all of their wishes as he will likely seek to bolster the squad in the transfer window and the rise of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain demonstrated that the current crop of youngsters in the club also deserve some playing time. Jack Wilshere will also return from injury over the summer and increase his midfield options.
But the Frenchman insists that he will not make a hasty decision and he will study all the options available to him before making the final decision. He noted that the Premier League squad restrictions make it difficult for him to keep all the players and it will be likely that he will have to make some tough decisions in the summer.
"[I have not decided anything] yet," he told Arsenal Player.
"It will depend a bit on the structure of the whole team. I will sit down with them at the end of the season.
"You know have some restrictions because you are only allowed 25 players. Therefore you have to make decisions and choices that are of course linked with that."
He also believes that the purchasing power of the Premier League has made it difficult for all the sides to maintain a proper balance. The English top flight has seen a number of high-profile players go on loan as the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor, Alberto Aquilani and Joe Cole have been unable to break into the first team and have gone to play for other teams on loan instead.
"At the moment we have 34 players. I believe that many clubs are in this situation. The Premier League have put themselves into this situation where they completely lock the transfer market.
"When the players come back from their loans, many clubs will be in the same situation where they cannot buy because they have too many players."
Arsenal next visit Stoke at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday in what is a must-win match for the Gunners. They currently have a three-point gap with fourth-placed Newcastle but if they drop any points then they could get caught up in a messy struggle with the other three clubs to ensure Champions League qualification.
i understand wenger, when you have many player, it will find difficult to choose who is better. look at this goal. Carlos Vela deserves come
arsene wenger is confident RVPersie will sign! don´t worry guys
Buddy I do hope you are right, but after the fiasco at the start of the season with Nasri and Fabregas there is doubt over Wengers ability to retain World class players...I do hope he builds upon this season and we can become a force to be reckoned with...A win on sunday will give us third...Now thats something to build on and an incentive for R.V.P to stay.
arsenal already have Podolsky, this mean we will attract more stars, it is an incentive to get more world class players. anyway, i m not sure about this, just i hope
Emirates Stadium boss ready to conduct major squad trimming exercise.
Arsene Wenger will this summer conduct a major squad clear-out as he prepares to add to his transfer fund budget from sales and more crucially help to meet the wage demands of three crucial members of his first team squad who are still yet to agree new contracts.
Senior Gunners stars Robin Van Persie, Theo Walcott and Alex Song all have a year to run on their current deals and will all look to secure a significant improvement on their current salaries which in turn will lead to other members of the Emirates Stadium playing staff looking for improved deals in line with their team-mates.
The emphasise therefore is towards quality over quantity and as such ten members of Wenger’s squad are reportedly being made available to any prospective suitors to help balance the books.
Having already secured the signing of Koln and Germany attacker Lukas Podolski Wenger will turn his attentions to more possible additions to help his North London side challenge for major honours and end a seven year silverware drought. The Arsenal manager will be handed a modest transfer budget by the club’s board, who in turn will insist that the shortfall in expenditure be made up from the sales of players.
i usually heard player who could leave, but who player could come right now?
djourou should be sold he dirt
