Robin van Persie says Arsenal need to end their six-year trophy drought this season.
The 27-year-old striker moved to the Emirates in 2004 but has not won a trophy with the club since the FA Cup in his first season with the Gunners.
The Netherlands international was part of the team that lost in the 2010 World Cup final to Spain, and says he is now keen to win something.
“The very least for us is to win something, it doesn’t really matter what it is,” he told the club’s official website.
“We made the final a couple of times and went to the semis a couple of times, so it’s time to win something now. Hopefully we can achieve that this year.
"Maybe we can focus more on the stage of February onwards, that’s where it went wrong over the last couple of years.
"Maybe we can focus on that period. Most of our players will be fresh from now until the start of January.
"When you want to win things, the season actually starts at the end of February. That’s when we need to play better or do things a little bit differently."
The Dutchman also commented on Arsenal’s newest addition, Gervinho, who signed for the north London club from Ligue 1 champions Lille for a reported £10.6 million on Monday.
“I know him from the highlights of the French league,” he said.
“I’ve seen him play a couple of times for the Ivory Coast and I’ve been speaking to [Emmanuel] Eboue and he was very positive about him.
“The things I’ve seen look great but we will have to wait and see how he adapts.
“Every new player that comes in needs time so he will need a couple of months to feel at home and hopefully he can play his best football.”
