The Gunners' first game of pre-season was a walk in the park as senior stars were too much for the hosts, while youngsters grasped the chance to shine in front of Arsene Wenger

Arsenal began their pre-season Asian tour with a comfortable win over a Malaysia XI in Kuala Lumpur.

Aaron Ramsey and Theo Walcott impressed and got on the scoresheet, while Japanese youngster Ryo Miyaichi and Carlos Vela showed plenty of quality.

Samir Nasri, currently at the centre of a transfer saga, came off the bench, while Barcelona target Cesc Fabregas remained in the UK to nurse an injury.

Arsene Wenger fielded a strong team mixed with senior stars and youth prospects, including Kieran Gibbs, Carl Jenkinson and Miyaichi

The game started well for the away side, and after just four minutes of play Arsenal were awarded a penalty as Mohd Zafuan brought Jack Wilshere down inside the area.

Ramsey stepped up to confidently slot it past the keeper to give the Gunners the lead.

Arsenal dominated possession, with Walcott and Miyaichi providing pace down the wings, but Wojciech Szczesny was forced to make a reaction save to tip the ball over from a rare attack.

But the Premier League side were to add to their lead when Ramsey and Walcott linked up, with the Welshman finding his team-mate who chipped the ball over the keeper.

The spritely Miyaichi, who was loaned out to Feyenoord last season, showed off flashes of his talent with some enterprising dribbling, though his cross could not be converted prior to the break.

The second half saw Sebastien Squillaci, Denilson, Carlos Vela and Tomas Rosicky, among others, introduced.

Vela influenced the game from the off, sprinting into the box and only just being pipped to the ball by the Malaysian goalkeeper, and the Mexican soon turned creator, picking out Ramsey only to see the Welshman fire narrowly over.

But Vela was to make a decisive contribution soon after as he ran into the box, beat a defender and finished with a trademark lob to make it three.

Wenger soon threw on Robin van Persie, Bacary Sagna, Andrey Arshavin and Nasri, but it was Vela who continued to impress.

The lively attacker burst into the box and attempted to round the keeper but saw his show blocked.

More substitutes were to combine for the fourth as Arshavin made a blistering run down the left and lifted the ball into the box for Rosicky to head home to seal a comfortable win.
