He is being touted as the new Michael Laudrup, but would Danish midfielder Christian Erisken add a new dimension to Arsenal or Chelsea?

The Ajax playmaker is a wanted man in Europe having recently been named young player of the year in the Netherlands and most promising talent of the year after helping his club lift the Dutch title.

This came less than a year after he was the youngest player to play at the World Cup finals for Morten Olsen's senior side in South Africa.

With such a hefty pedigree, there is no doubt that Eriksen is ripe for a move to one of Europe's wealthier leagues. Could he cut it in the Premier League? We were keen to see what he had to offer at Under-21 level having excelled against England in a friendly earlier this year.

Still only 19, he scored for Denmark in their 2-0 win in Iceland in Euro 2012 qualifier earlier this month, but is still learning his trade in his teenage years.

Unlike Arsenal's Jack Wilshere, he has not been discouraged by his club from representing the U21 side at these European Championships.

He is valued around the £16 million mark by the Dutch champions. He displayed glimpses of his quality in helping Denmark claim their first win at a tournament they are hosting as they recovered in some style to down Belarus 2-1.

Like a Michael or a Brian Laudrup, he has natural ability to drift beyond players as he showed against Belarus early in the second period with a technique and vision that hardly requires encouragement.

Having embarked on one of those 'Laudrup' slalom runs early in the second period, it required a quite delightful save from the Belarus keeper Alexsandr Gutor to keep out a venomous shot.

It was not quite Michael Laudrup against Uruguay in Mexico '86, but it was still a bit tasty for a teenager.

Chelsea and Arsenal have been credited with an interest in the player, but we think a few more Premier League clubs will be sniffing around this talent when the wheeling and dealing begins to heat up.

He could be a bargain at £15 million.

Here is how his night worked out on a memorable night for the young Danes against in Aarhus.

Key moments

21' Eriksen sees a poor penalty saved by Gutor, but manages to score on the rebound as the ball fortunately breaks to him.

48' Eriksen races through a couple of white shirts to reach the edge of the Belarus box. He looked likely to score, but Gutor dives to make an impeccable stop.

71' He continues to impress and salutes team-mate Nicolai Jorgensen, whose first goal for his country is enough to seal three points for his country ahead of the closing match of the section on Saturday.
