BackSought after Bolton defender Gary Cahill is thought to have had a change of heart over a summer move to Manchester City and is turning his attention to Arsenal according to the London Evening Standard.
The 25 year old appears to have wavered over a move to the Eastlands club with a potential lack of first team football cited. Tottenham are also interested but an Arsenal source has advised that the Gunners are confident of acquiring the England centre-back.
The player won’t come cheap with a £17million release clause built into his contract although a player plus cash offer is rumoured to have been tabled.
Wenger has already expressed the need for his club to bring in bigger and more physical players and with a partner to Vermaelen seen by many as the clubs priority, Cahill more than fits the bill.
The Sheffield born player started his professional career at Aston Villa in 2004 and went out on loan to both Burnley, where he was voted player and young player of the year, and Sheffield Utd.
He moved to Bolton in 2008 and has become a firm favourite at the Reebok Stadium with 111 appearance and 11 goals to his name.
He made his full England debut in September 2010 in a 4-0 home win over Bulgaria and has 3 caps to his name.

WaigaD01 Prof Arsene, make haste and sign Cahill, Alvarez and Gervinho but do not release Nasri. This will allow them to settle early enough for the new season please....

Disotie Yes if we get such robust, seasoned physical defenders then our dreams of overcoming the drought and covering our porous defense is guaranteed.
