BackMikel Arteta maintains he should not be perceived as a replacement for Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri at Arsenal.
The former Everton
midfielder's craft was secured by Arsene Wenger
on transfer deadline day in a deal reported to be worth £10million.
Arteta
was lured to Emirates Stadium by the attraction of European football, while pundits have predicted his creativity will fill the gap left by Fabregas
and Nasri.
The pair moved to Barcelona
and Manchester City,
respectively, this summer, but Arsenal's
new man does not want to be seen as a replacement.
Ahead of his probable debut against Swansea on Saturday, Arteta told Arsenal Player: "They were two top players for the club, they did really, really well in the last few years and now we have some new players coming in to try and make the same impact. I am sure we will.
"I don't want the fans to be expecting the same as them because every player is different.
"We need some time to adapt as well, but I am sure that we will give everything we can to make this team better."
