Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits he must 'add something' to his squad

After being put to the sword by Lionel Messi and Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-finals, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confessed that some more must be added to his club in order for them to keep up.

With their 4-1 defeat at the Nou Camp on Tuesday, Arsenal now have only the Premier League left in a quest to end their five year trophy drought.

The Gunners currently sit three points behind new leaders Chelsea, fresh off a big victory at Old Trafford, and with five games remaining for Arsenal, it will be a tough task to overtake Chelsea and win the Premier

Wenger believes that his team needs to add some more to their squad in order to compete with the biggest clubs in Europe.

“We have to add something, for sure, but we have some time to think about that,” Wenger told The Telegraph.

“We are at a stage where we’re developing players.

"Walcott is 22, Bendtner is 22. Nasri, Diaby, Denilson are 23 or 22. They’ve shown some great qualities and they’ll get stronger every year.

“What we did was very positive but we lacked maturity in the weight of the final ball. The defeat is difficult to handle because, when you go out of the Champions League, the next day you are in front of a very empty future.

"Our dreams are involved in that, but you have to address the disappointment and make sure you’re ready for the next game because we cannot drop any points to have a chance to fight for the Premier League.”

Arsenal will take on Champions League hopeful’s Tottenham next Wednesday in a crucial game for each squad.
