Arsenal.com: Best Website of the Year 2010

Arsenal.com has been named 'Best Website of 2010' and 'Best Sports Website of 2010' at the Website of the Year awards.

This year, 255 websites were nominated in more than 20 categories. More than 1,800,000 votes were cast between October 21 and November 26.

Arsenal's official Club website - winner in the Sports category for three consecutive years - was chosen as ‘Best Website of 2010’ in the United Kingdom after scoring highly for its content, navigation and design.

Other winners include LinkedIn (Career), Facebook (Communities), Paypal (Finance), Vodafone (Telecom), Google UK (Search & Find) and the University of Oxford (Educational).

"Arsenal.com are deserved winners of this year's award," said Ike Breed, the Project Manager of Website of the Year.

"We ask people to rate the content, navigation and design of each website and also how likely they are to recommend it to others. From that we calculate a rating, giving a winner in each category and an overall winner - which this year is Arsenal.com.

"It is the people's choice and more and more people are voting every year so you need to have a top-class website to win."

"Taking a third successive sports award would have been great in itself so scooping the overall prize is more than we expected. When you see the names we beat - Facebook, Google, Oxford University - you can only be proud.

"Funnily enough, this award is a 'goodbye' to this version of Arsenal.com. By this time next year we should have an exciting new console for our subscription service and a re-designed main site. This will allow us to develop our content even further - especially on matchdays.

‘Website of the Year’ is the people's-choice website award initiative by online research agency MetrixLab.
